Sustainable Listening

FOREST: The second edition of the discourse and concert performance series Sustainable Listening at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden

On January 3rd, the Staatsoper Unter den Linden will kick off the new year in the Apollosaal with the second edition of the discourse and concert performance series Sustainable Listening, which is dedicated to climate and environmental issues.

As part of Sustainable Listening, a walk-in climate capsule becomes a place for impulses, exchange and participation with climate experts, activists and visionaries on various sustainability topics.

The second edition is dedicated to the topic Forest. The focus of the evening is the concert performance: works inspired by wood, trees and the forest by Olivier Messiaen, Keiko Abe, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, and Steve Reich, played by musicians from the Staatskapelle Berlin, who are involved in the Orchestra of Change, merge to an installative spatial experience with live electronics by the Teichmann brothers and impulse contributions by Ole Seidenberg. Seidenberg is a founding member of Skyseed, a Berlin-based company that uses drones to reforest the forest. It is a matter close to his heart to establish healthy, climate-stable and natural (commercial) forests together with forest owners.
